    STYPHNOLOBIUM

    Commonly known as Japanese pagoda tree

    Of elegant habit with fragrant flowers in pendent panicles.

    Genus of about 9 species of mainly deciduous, sometimes evergreen, trees and shrubs from temperate to seasonally dry, tropical woodland and lowland to montane forest occuring mainly in North and Central America with one species native in western and central China and naturalized in Japan.
