      BEWARE - sharp spines close to the flowers. Attracts insects and butterflies late in the year. Also known as barbed-wire bush. Can be tip-pruned when young to encourage bushiness

      Stiffly branched, almost leafless shrub. Cylindrical sharp-pointed grey-green spines.
