    MAHONIA

    Genus of about 70 species of evergreen shrubs occurring in rocky places and woodland in the Himalayas, eastern Asia and North and Central America.

    Colourful and tough shrubs that enliven a winter garden.

    Some are pleasantly scented and all are beneficial to insects.

    Japonica and x media provide nectar for overwintering blackcaps.
