    TSUGA

    Commonly known as Hemlock

Genus of 9 species of evergreen, monoecious, coniferous trees found in forest from the Himalayas to northern Burma, western Vietnam, China, Taiwan and Japan and in North America.

Although referred to as hemlocks these trees are not poisonous.

In nature the eastern hemlock and the Carolina hemlock are in serious danger from an aphid-like pest introduced from eastern Asia where it is a minor pest.
