Lion's Ear or Lion's Tail. Statuesque, bold, tawny orange and wildlife-friendly.
Genus of about 9 species of aromatic annuals, perennials and evergreen to semi-evergreen shrubs from upland grassland and rocky areas mainly in southern Africa.
In the mint family, square-stemmed and producing a stately plant up to 6ft from an early planting it carries its flowers in stages up the stem. In colder areas to maintain it as a perennial it can be pot grown and moved into shelter at the end of the season. A very good butterfly plant.
