6th January 2021. In line with the current government lockdown rules, Burncoose Nurseries is closed to visitors. However at present we are able to offer click and collect to local customers. This will be weekdays only, not weekends. Mail order is continuing as normal. However please allow extra time for the couriers to deliver, once despatched from us.   • Deciduous - long-stalked, broadly oval leaves to 18cm (7in) long, dark-green above, paler beneath.
  • Cream
  • White - creamy-white
  • Height - 2m (6½ft)
  • Spread - 2m (6½ft)
  • Medium shrub - Typically grow to around 4-6 feet in height - rounded shrub. Large, almost spherical flowerheads 20-25cm (8-10in) across of mainly sterile flowers.
  • Hardy - very cold winter - Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe. Plant can possibly withstand temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F)
  • Full sun - shelter from cold, drying winds.

  • Harmful if eaten - These will give you an upset tummy, so please don't eat any of these.
  • May cause skin allergy or irritant - Having skin or eye contact with these plants could result in an allergic reaction, burning or rash.

  • Good to know - found in the wild. Flowers on new wood. Prune to lowest pair of healthy buds to create a low framework of branches. Neglected plants can be hard-pruned.

    Suitable for: Deciduous and evergreen trees, and some deciduous shrubs.
    Pruning: Minimal pruning required. Prune wayward or crossing branches to maintain a healthy framework.
    When: When dormant in the late winter/early spring. Some in the summer/autumn to prevent bleeding of sap.
