    Commonly known as Loquat-leaf oak

    A hardy Mexican oak with attractive downy reddish new growth maturing to a bullate glossy green

      Wavy-margined, thick, leathery leaves with prominent veins, 6-22cm (2½-8in) long

      Small, branching tree. Dark grey, deeply furrowed bark. Small, ovoid acorns 1-1.5cm (¾in) long, take 2 seasons to mature

      Pruning: Minimal pruning required. Prune wayward or crossing branches to maintain a healthy framework.
      When: When dormant in the late winter/early spring. Some in the summer/autumn to prevent bleeding of sap.
